Researching the hotels in Ukraine, it�s worth saying that the western European standards is a lot higher than those in Former USSR. Nevertheless what attracts tourists to Odessa? As according the statistics the number of tourists is constantly increasing and the summer 2006 had over 2 million population in Odessa while the inhabitants number is only a bit over 1 million.

There are not many hotels in Odessa and if another million manage living in hotels, they would be overcrowded. Only approximately 10% of tourists prefer hotels, the rest chooses the cozy apartments kindly suggested for rent in the downtown area, Arcadia (the seacoast), Big Fountain.

The non-competitive popularity is gained by the central areas, especially Deribasovskaya street, Lanzheronovskaya, Opera House, Pale Royal where prices in summer raise from $10 up to $30 per night.

And finally, let�s compare the price. Hotel prices vary from $40 for a *** star hotel (which is approximately 1-2 star in European standards) up to $300 per night for a ***** or Luxury (VIP class) rooms in hotels such as: Palace Del Mar, Mozart, Arcadia Plaza. Nevertheless, lower class hotels like Chernoye More, Passage, Londonskaya, remain popular among the city visitors.

The price policy in apartment rental industry is simpler as long as you get privacy, comfort, chambermaid service, inexpensive price and the discount if you stay for at least a fortnight. The price varies from $35 (for a 1 bedroom apartment), $50-55-150 (two bedroom, studios), and $90-250 (three bedroom apartment).

The standards are divided into: economy class, standard class, luxury apartments.

Economy class apartments.
Priorities over hotel rooms: bathroom (shower), telephone (no international line), TV (cable);
Disadvantages: a single, no home equipment (hair dryer, iron), no conditioner, no washing machine, no Jacuzzi.

Standard class apartments:
Priorities over hotel rooms: double place, bathroom (shower), telephone (no international line), cable TV, refrigerator, Internet access, chambermaid service, new furniture, living-room apart from bedroom, have home equipment;
Disadvantages: located within 10-40 minutes away from the central part of the city.

High class apartments have all modern amenities and the price starts at $90-$250. Unlike previously compared places, luxury apartments can comfortably accommodate up to 5 people.
